The Great Escapade: My Fun Travel with MAS!

Birthdays have always been a very celebrated event in my family. Over the years, we've always made it a point to plan something - simple, or special - for the birthday boy or girl, no matter how young or old that person was. It's just a tradition that everyone's "lifeday" is celebrated.

I turned 26 last week, and because of the craziness at work, I really didn't expect this year's birthday to be any big deal. Boy, was I wrong!

There we were at home, celebrating with a SUPERMAN birthday cake (I'm a huge Supes fan!) - and suddenly, mum says that: "OK, we're actually going for an impromptu trip to Vietnam, faster go take leave!"

Before you could say "HANOI!", there we were, flying to the Vietnam capital on MAS. My mum said that it was really impromptu since MAS recently announced their latest MAS Stimulus Package - and the Buy 1, Free 1 prmotion meant that for the 4 of us - she only needed to pay for 2 tickets, and we got 2 free! "Malaysians tend to react slow to promos, so I'm gonna seize the initiative!" she said.

Over the 3 days, we covered as much as we could! We tried the famous Vietnamese coffee (VERY POWDERFUL STUFF!) and did lots of camwhoring. Hahah! One of the nice moments was having dinner at a simple roadside stall - we sat on tiny chairs! And of course, we took the boat cruise to check out the beautifullll Halong bay - dad and mum doing their version of Titanic there - cute aye? :D

Those 3 days were truly amazing. But it wasn't the end yet!

The next day, I get a call from the parents of the girl I like - like totally unexpected, oK - and they "summon" me to their house. Quite terrified. So, I got there and they sat me down and said: "So, do you want to travel to KCH to visit her for her birthday?" (She's studying abroad at the moment).

I was shellshocked!!! (But so happy inside!) Seeing that this was also a last-minute thing, we quickly browsed the GRAB-A-DEAL promotion to see what seats we could find. Managed to find a seat for RM150!! Not bad considering I was flying in a few days.

So off I went!!! Weeee~ The best part was - SHE DIDN"T KNOW I WAS COMING!!! Now, if you were a guy going after a girl (and that she kinda likes you), then one of the best things to do are surprise visits. The more unexpected, the better! (most of the time, anyways)

I got there and rented a Kancil (a disaster to drive!) and went off to surprise. Hahahha, her face was priceless! After hitting me multiple times for the shock, we then went beronda-ronda around the city.

We didn't have a lot of time to really check places out. Furthermore, it was Sunday so alot of the shops were closed. What we did do was to go makan abit and do a bit of camwhoring here and there (sorry, I can't put her face here or she'll kill me)

Come the end of the day, it was painful to bid her farewell. Oh, I could only stay the day because her campus only allowed her off-campus on Sundays. Strict yeah. In order to get the cheapest flight back, I opted for a Balik Kampung ticket - RM99!!! I tell you, the most amazing thing about MAS fares is that you get a whole range of options to pick from. And I get to pick my own seat and get dinner included!

It was such an exhausting week, but truly one of the more memorable birthdays in my life. Maybe next time, I'll get to fly back with her ;)

Man, that was great - this truly is the time to travel!!

Career Advancement

Apart from my regular executive job scope, I also happen to be the resident exterminator for the creepy crawlies.

My expertise? As Iris would say: "Crockroach!"

Here's my CV:

Now you know who to call.

P/s: I'm actually quite terrified of flying cockroaches. So there is a clause that allows termination of contract should subjects go airborne.

It's about reading beneath the lines...

Most of the time, we tend to want to express ourselves but hesitate because transparency equates to vulnerability.

If you're like me, however, you just can't keep things to yourself. You want to let people know - maybe not the whole truth but some form of it.

So, we twist and turn and manipulate language, tone and structure to entice... but just. It's a cruel art that leaves people wondering and curious for more; a play at our gossip-hungry nature to know more than we ought to.

In fact, it was this that led to the original sin.

Anyway, you'll find that most posts here may not be clear as crystal :) But hey, at least I've made it clear why...

... or at least, that's what you're supposed to think. ;)
